Shire Sister's Twisted Garden founded in 2022, is a family-owned gift shop located in the Berkshires.
Coming from Florida, an area we felt was not an ideal place to grow our family, we decided to pack up and leave for Virginia. (Yes, all three of us! Where ever one goes, the others follow) It was a great stepping stone for our family , and where we began to start learning about the products we use and the effects it has on not just the environment, but on our family.
Our passion for nature and sustainability really grew when we moved to the Berkshires in 2019. This area was just too beautiful to not want to protect and preserve it, and it was very obvious that we were among like minded people in the Berkshires.
In the summer of 2022, the frustrations of the pandemic, and trying to get back to what we thought was a normal life was hard. Jess, who is our very own scientist and teacher, no longer found joy in teaching (between the virtual teaching, and constant fear of emergency situations she could find herself in with her students), she no longer had the energy or drive to give her students what they needed. Jackie, our nurse, was EXHAUSTED from the pandemic, and was striving for something not as taxing on her own health. And Chelsea, a stay at home mom who had limited options on ways to help bring home money, needed an outlet for her creativity and drive.
In the Fall of 2022 we jumped in head first to our first event with very limited stock, but with each show we participated in, we gained more knowledge and insight on where we wanted to take our business.
In February of 2023, the Shire Sisters were accepted into a very competitive program, EForAll, which helped launch our business even further than we ever expected. So don't be surprised if you catch the Shire Sisters while visiting your favorite local spot, and events!
We can't wait to share our passion for sustainability, family, and community. We believe that everyone should have access to unique and meaningful items that reflect our shared values.
